5 Works in Couple-ish (Web Series)
17 Sep 2017
Two people screw things up in a couple of different lives. Flower shop customers are stalked, fights are picked, and questions aren't quite answered.
(or: dee and rachel, lafontaine and danny, and some combination thereof)
Dee, Amy, Rachel, and Ed go over their back stories for the Canadian government.
I wrote this right after the trailer came out before I saw any episodes.
Rachel is the daughter of a powerful witch in England, and she has traveled to Canada in hopes of finding someone that can help her. Her fate has been written for her, and she refuses to allow her soul be handed over to some Thing. It's made clear that there is no where she can run where the Thing can't find her; Rachel's only chance is to get power, something she's had very little of since birth.
Amy, also a witch, recognizes Rachel as one and offers her a place to stay, if she can get her sibling to agree. Needing help to afford rent, Dee is sure to let Rachel be their roommate, but they're hiding something that even Amy seems unable to crack. Worse is when their ex appears, right when they find someone new, also hiding something.
Amy seems to be the only person in Toronto Rachel can trust completely, but as the Thing starts to close in, she grows unsure of even that.
"You never told me your father was a bobby.”
“He’s not. My Dad’s name is Peter."
In which Dee and Rachel talk after the events of dinner with the Warsons, and Rachel reminds Dee that they are indeed loved.
Dee thinks they could maybe - someday - fall in love with Ed. He’s funny and quirky, and just possibly the most open minded guy they’ve ever met. His accent is nice too; though it’s not their favorite. They’ll never admit it, but Rachel’s rich twang beats Ed’s northern slur any day of the week.
